Retention, disposal & legal hold
How long Brolly keeps your records, how disposal is handled against your records authority's requirements, and holds.
Brolly is built for public-record compliance: every captured record is kept as a time-stamped, tamper-evident copy — including content that was edited or deleted on the platform — for as long as your organisation needs it.
How long records are kept
By default Brolly retains everything it captures. Records don't age out or get overwritten, so your archive stays complete from the day each account was connected (including backfilled history).
Disposal
Most Australian jurisdictions set minimum retention periods for social media records under their public records legislation. When records pass their required retention period and your records officer authorises disposal, contact support@brolly.com.au — disposal is handled deliberately, with confirmation, rather than as a self-service button, so an accidental click can never destroy records.
Legal hold
If records are subject to litigation, an FOI request in progress, or an investigation, let us know and they'll be excluded from any disposal until the matter is resolved.
Retention requirements differ between jurisdictions — always confirm the specifics with your records officer or State Records authority.
