Can we specify a start date for capture?
Brolly captures everything by default — but you can view and export records for any date range.
By default, Brolly is set up to capture records for all time. When you connect a social media account, Brolly performs a historic crawl of the account's earlier content as well as capturing everything new. Records from before the connection are called historic records.
This all-time default exists for a good reason: recordkeeping obligations usually apply to everything your organisation has published, not just content from the day you started archiving.
Viewing records for a date range
Even though capture covers everything, you can easily work with a specific period:
- Log in to Brolly and go to your Feed.
- Select the Date filter and choose the date range you want to view.
You can combine the date filter with keyword search, Accounts, Types and other filters — see Searching your archive.
Exporting records for a date range
- Filter the Feed to your date range and export directly from there, or
- Go to Exports and specify the time period as part of setting up the export.
For step-by-step export guidance, including FOI requests, see Exporting records for FOI.
Need a different arrangement?
If your organisation has a specific requirement around capture scope — for example, a formal records authority that limits what you retain — contact us at support@brolly.com.au and we'll talk through the options, including retention settings (see Retention and legal hold).
