Pausing an account
Stop capturing new records from a social media account you no longer use, while keeping its archived history intact.
Organisations close official social media accounts for all sorts of reasons — portfolio changes, restructures, or the end of an elected official's term. When that happens, you don't want to lose the archive you've built. Pausing an account stops Brolly capturing new records from it, while everything already captured stays securely in your archive.
When to pause an account
- The account is no longer active or has been closed on the social media platform.
- An elected official's term has ended (for example, a councillor or minister).
- A campaign or project account has wrapped up.
Pausing keeps you compliant: the records captured while the account was live remain available in Brolly's interface, so you continue to meet your recordkeeping obligations.
How to pause an account
You'll need Owner or Group owner access.
- Go to Settings → Accounts.
- Find the account you want to pause.
- Open the account's actions menu (⋯) and choose the pause option.
- Pausing is a significant decision, so Brolly shows a confirmation message explaining what will happen. Read it, confirm, and the account is paused.
What happens after pausing
- Brolly stops capturing new posts, comments and messages from the account.
- All previously captured records are retained and remain searchable and exportable.
- The Accounts table in Settings → Accounts shows the status of each connected account, so you can see at a glance which ones are archived or paused.
