Connect a YouTube channel

How to add a YouTube channel to Brolly, including what happens with live streams.

If your organisation uses YouTube to communicate publicly, add your channel to Brolly so videos and their comments are captured in your archive.

Connect the channel

  1. Log in to Brolly and go to SettingsAccounts.
  2. Select Add accounts. The Connect a social media account dialog opens.
  3. Select a group for the channel, or keep the default Organisation (default).
  4. Choose the YouTube tile from the list of channels.
  5. Brolly prompts you through the connection process — you'll identify the channel you want to archive and confirm.

The Connect a social media account dialog

Once the connection completes, the channel appears in your SettingsAccounts table with a status of Active, and captured records show in your Feed. If the channel doesn't activate promptly, email support@brolly.com.au and we'll check on it for you.

Live streams

YouTube live streaming sessions can be archived too. Sessions and their comments are captured automatically, provided you save the sessions to your channel after streaming.

  • Live streams saved to your channel: archived, along with comments.
  • Live streams not saved to your channel: Brolly cannot archive them.

What gets captured

Videos, video descriptions and comments are captured as records, including historic content from before you connected. Like all channels, changes are tracked — see How automatic record capture works.
