Capturing private messages
Brolly can capture the direct messages your accounts receive — browse them under Messages, separate from the public Feed.
Direct messages sent to your organisation's social media accounts are records too — a complaint DM'd to your Facebook page can be just as FOIable as a public comment. Brolly captures them alongside your public activity, but keeps them in their own screen.
The Messages screen
Open Messages in the sidebar to browse captured conversations. Each conversation shows who messaged your account and when; select one to read the full thread, message by message, with each message's capture details. You can:
- Search message text by keyword, and filter by account or date — the same way you filter the Feed.
- Print a conversation when you need a hard copy for a request or file.
Which accounts capture messages
Message capture runs per account. Under Settings → Accounts, the Messages column shows Enabled for accounts capturing DMs — platform support varies, so not every channel offers it. See turning message capture off if your organisation prefers not to archive DMs for an account.
Messages and exports
Because private messages are handled separately from public records, they're exported separately too — see export file types.
