A New Facebook Page Will Not Connect
Brand-new Facebook pages can take a while before Facebook lets third-party tools such as Brolly see them — check your admin role, give it time, then try again.
Overview
Created a new Facebook page for your organisation but cannot see it when you try to connect it to Brolly? When Brolly asks Facebook which pages your login can administer, a page is only offered if the login you used currently has the right permissions on it and Facebook has made it available to connected apps. With a brand-new page the usual causes are a propagation delay on Facebook's side, the wrong login, a Business Portfolio that has not assigned the page to you, or a permission declined during authorisation. Work through the checks below; most cases resolve with one of them.
First, Check the Basics
- Confirm your access to the page. Facebook offers a page to Brolly based on the permissions your login currently holds on it, not on who created it. Sign in with a profile that has full control of the page (an admin, or the equivalent task permissions). If the page sits in a Business Portfolio (Meta Business Suite), check that the portfolio has assigned the page to your profile with full control
- Sign in to Facebook first. Being signed in to the right Facebook account, in the same browser, before you start makes the connection flow smoother
- Check you are picking the right page. When Brolly shows the pages your login can administer, a new page may simply be further down the list. Pages already in Brolly are marked so you do not add them twice
- Check the page is published. A page still in draft or unpublished on Facebook may not be offered
Then Check Permissions, Wait and Retry
If the page still is not offered during the connection flow:
- In Facebook, open Settings → Business integrations (or the Business Portfolio's Integrations) and check whether Brolly is listed with every permission granted. If a permission was declined, remove Brolly there and connect again, approving everything Brolly asks for
- Wait a while — a brand-new page can take some time to become visible to connected apps. This is one possible cause, not the only one, so do not wait indefinitely
- Try again: click Settings in the left sidebar, then Connect account at the top right of the Social accounts page, choose Facebook and click Continue to Facebook. The steps are in Connecting Facebook
- Do a hard refresh first to rule out a cached page getting in the way
Once the page connects it appears in the Social accounts table as Active and capture starts straight away.
Still Stuck?
If the page is still not offered after the checks above, email support@brolly.com.au with the page name, its URL, when you created it, which Facebook login you used and whether the page belongs to a Business Portfolio, and we will help you get it connected.
Tips
Facebook's authorisation lists what Brolly is asking for before you leave Brolly. Approve every permission — declining one leaves the connection incomplete, and the page will not appear.
If your organisation creates pages regularly, keep a shared note of which Facebook logins have full control of each one. Any login with the current permissions can re-connect a page later; the original creator is not required.
