The new Brolly

What's New in Brolly

The new Brolly is live. Here is what changed from the old interface — every edit and version kept in view, smarter search, saved searches, guided exports, a real audit trail, and Insights that measure your social media for the first time.

Open BrollyUpdated 12 October 2026

The new Brolly is a ground-up redesign of the interface, and it is now the only Brolly, at app.brolly.com.au: the old interface has been retired and its addresses redirect there. Your records have not changed — every post, comment and message is where you left it — but finding, reviewing and producing them has. Here are the changes that matter most, side by side with the old interface for anyone who used it. Click any screenshot to see it full size. For a dated list of every release, see Release Notes.

Every edit and deletion, kept and now visible

Before: one Created badge. Later edits or deletion were not visible from the card.

Now: a Deleted badge and the full history — the original capture and each edit, timed.

Brolly has always kept every version of a record that it captured. In the old interface each edit, hide or deletion showed up as its own Feed card, with no link between them; now they are one record with its history on the surface:

  • Record cards list their version history line by line, and a Deleted badge marks records removed on the platform
  • Action-type filters — Create, Edit, Hidden, Unhidden, Deleted — show only moderation activity or only edited posts. Show deleted and hidden items is a one-click shortcut on Home
  • The Inspector opens any record with a Versions panel — one card per captured version, v1, v2 and so on — beside its comments, media, annotations and log. See Viewing a Record
  • Exports carry every captured version of each record, according to the format — see Export formats and contents

The Feed: one card per record, not one per action

Before: every edit, hide, unhide or deletion added another card, so one post could appear in the Feed several times.

The Feed is still the Feed. It now lives under Archive in the sidebar, beside Messages and Summary, and the big change is what fills it:

  • No more duplicates. In the old interface an edit, hide, unhide or deletion each added a new card, so the same post showed up again and again. Now those actions are versions of the one record, listed on its card, and the Feed shows each record once. The Action types filter still finds them when moderation activity is what you are after
  • Our content / All content / Public content — switch between what your accounts published, everything captured, or only what other people posted, such as comments on your posts. Replaces the Public activity toggle
  • Search scope and Mode — search post text, author names, or your own notes and tags, as a Natural, Exact phrase, All terms or Any terms search
  • All sources picks platforms and individual accounts in one place
  • Filters gathers record type, posted-by, platforms, action types, media types and timeframe into one dialog with a live match count
  • Sort by newest, oldest, relevance or comment count, and select up to 25 records to tag or export together

A search you run every week no longer has to be rebuilt every week. Set up the Archive — search, filters, sources, tags, sort — click Save Search and name it. From then on it is one click away under the bookmark button, and Manage saved searches lets you reorder, rename, refresh (update it to whatever is on screen) or delete.

A new Home

The Dashboard is now Home: the same landing page with the same job, rebuilt. Archive at a glance still shows your record totals and capture history, and now adds a row of your connected accounts — with a needs attention chip the moment a connection lapses and View status for the full table — and a Storage tile: the total file size of your archive, split into images and text when you click it, with your storage limit if you have one. Around those figures Home picks up a few shortcuts: the What / Where / When search opens the Archive already filtered, Create your own shortcut saves any filter combination as a card, and a Team chip in the top corner counts invitations still pending. See Home.

The Inspector: every version of a record in one place

Brolly
A post captured four times — posted, then edited three times. Highlight edits is on, so the added wording is marked in green in the text itself.

Click any post or comment and it opens in the Inspector, the replacement for the old record detail view. Everything Brolly holds on the record is on one screen:

  • Versions — v1 is the original capture, then one card per edit, hide, unhide or deletion, each badged and timed. Click a version to read it in full
  • Highlight edits — switch it on and the difference between versions is marked in the text itself, so a reworded post shows exactly what changed without reading two versions side by side
  • Context for comments — the parent comment and the original post sit under the comment, and the Comments tab shows the whole thread with the selected comment highlighted
  • Comments, Insights, Media, Annotations, Details and Log tabs — the thread, the post's reach and sentiment (with the Insights add-on), attachments, your notes and tags, metadata, and the capture history
  • View live opens the original on the platform if it still exists; Export produces a file of just this record

See Viewing a Record.

Insights: your archive, measured for the first time

Until now Brolly kept the record and left the numbers to the platforms. For organisations with the Insights add-on, Brolly measures what you publish and how people respond, from the records already in your Archive:

  • Performance — posts, reach, interactions, engagement and net sentiment for any period, each against the period before, and a grid of when you post, when people respond and how they feel by day and hour
  • Sentiment and emotions — every comment your posts draw is scored from strongly negative to strongly positive, with the emotions behind them named: joy, gratitude, surprise, anger and more
  • Topics and hashtags — the subjects and tags your content covers, ranked by an impact score you can reweight for performance, awareness or reputation, each with an inspector listing the posts behind it
  • Posts Explorer — every post as a sortable table; click one for its reach, views, interactions, comment sentiment and how engagement built over its first week, with every edit marked on the chart
  • In the Archive — a sentiment face on every feed card, and an Insights tab in the Inspector
  • One-click report — Export on any Insights page produces a printable report of the whole section

Pick PDF, HTML, CSV or JSON and see the estimated size before you create it. Every export carries everything it can hold — comments, every version, metadata, media, annotations and sentiment — so there is nothing to untick. You can also export from wherever you are: a filtered Archive view, a selection, a single record, a conversation or the activity log. See Exports.

  • Every table opens a drawer instead of a menu, each with its own Activity Log tab
  • Users is now Team; Groups are Permission Groups connecting people to accounts
  • Tags gain Tag settings and a one-click jump to a tag's records
  • Security folds into Organisation, beside the name and timezone, with single sign-on alongside two-factor authentication
  • A new organisation-wide Activity Log — sign-ins, failed attempts, password resets and settings changes, with IP and location — filterable and exportable. See Activity Log

Also improved

  • Navigation — the top-level tabs have moved into the sidebar. Archive expands to Feed, Messages and Summary, Settings to its seven pages, and the sidebar collapses to icons when you want the Archive full-width. Send feedback at the bottom goes straight to the Brolly team. See Navigating Brolly
  • Alerts — a table with trigger counts and an Activity view; one alert can watch several keywords across all or specific accounts. See Alerts
  • Messages — a Source data link on every message, and one-click conversation export. See Archive Messages

Still to come

  • Plans & Billing — Settings → Organisation shows your plan and usage; changes are still made through the Brolly team
  • Insights for every organisation — Insights is an add-on; without it the module shows an overview and a Get a demo button. The Release Notes have the details
  • Protect — an optional module the Brolly team switches on; its guides will follow the module (Protect)
